CONTENT RULES
Be visible/without being a jerk
Placements are public visibility listings - not land deeds or investments. Names, logos and messages should respect people, brands and the map.
Before checkout. Checkout enforces these rules before a listing stays active. Do not use your message to imply land ownership, guaranteed returns, or that charity money is already donated.
Fan vs brand/listing stance
Brand representatives must be authorized to use the submitted name, logo and links. Fan / tribute listings must be clearly unofficial, must not impersonate a brand or fake verification, and must remain lawful. Choosing fan / tribute does not grant rights to use any official third-party logo. Trademark or rights-holder complaints may lead to review or removal.
- At checkout you choose Fan / tribute (unofficial) or I represent this brand (rights-holder attestation).
- Unofficial placement. You are not claiming to be the brand or rights holder. Choosing fan / tribute does not grant rights to use any official third-party logo. Content must still be lawful; trademark or rights-holder complaints may lead to review or removal.
- You control or are authorized to represent and use this name and logo on SpotMyMap. False claims can be removed.
- That choice is your attestation under the Terms - SpotMyMap does not verify brand ownership at checkout and does not show a "verified by SpotMyMap" badge for this step.
- Adding visibility to someone else's profile (boost) never gives you control of their name, logo, or links.
Allowed/in spirit
- Your company, creator, community or meme identity.
- Honest fan energy that does not impersonate an official brand.
- Links to real sites and socials you control or fairly represent.
- SVG up to 5 MB · PNG/JPG/WebP/GIF/AVIF/HEIC/HEIF up to 40 MB. AVIF and HEIC/HEIF require browser support and are converted before upload. Stored files stay under 5 MB. Very large photos are compressed for map storage - never cropped, and SVG stays vector. Map paint uses resized thumbs for speed; close-up zoom loads sharper originals.
Memes/culture lane
- Parody, jokes, and internet culture marks are welcome when they are clearly not pretending to be an official brand listing.
- Choose Culture / meme when creating the profile. Culture appears on the shared map and its own ranking, separate from companies, creators and communities. Map filters can hide other categories; country totals include everyone.
- No brand impersonation ("official Nike", fake verified logos, or lookalike checkout pages).
- No hate, harassment, illegal content, or NSFW / sexual content.
Not/okay
- Trademark impersonation ("official" when you are not).
- Hate, harassment, illegal content, malware links.
- Spam farms, empty test spam, or flooding countries with junk.
- Misleading investment, land/property, or "already donated" claims in your message.
Same name as an existing listing? You will see a warning if the name already exists. Prefer opening that profile when it is already you; fan-style places under a famous name need review.
Content removal/and refunds
If content is rejected or refused before activation because it cannot be accepted, you receive a full refund. If a placement is removed after activation because the user or content violated SpotMyMap rules, there is no discretionary moderation refund. If SpotMyMap makes a technical error, duplicates or wrongly charges you, or wrongfully removes a placement, we provide a full refund or appropriate correction. If a payment is refunded, reversed, or successfully disputed, the placement may be removed or suspended from the live map. These moderation refund rules do not limit any mandatory consumer withdrawal, refund, chargeback, statutory guarantee, or other non-waivable consumer rights. Where mandatory law gives you a right to withdraw or receive money back, that right takes precedence.
See also Terms and Withdrawal.
Reporting/issues
Open any profile on the map and use Report (IP, impersonation, map/geo, technical, etc.). Cases go to the ops queue for review. You can also write via Contact. SpotMyMap is an independently built beta - map boundaries may contain simplifications; reporting helps us fix them without waiving mandatory consumer rights. For a written consumer complaint with a 15-day response clock, use Complaints. The report form follows a DSA-shaped notice pattern (reason, URL, good faith) - that is not a "DSA compliant" badge.
