A side questthat kept growing

SpotMyMap started as a side quest that refused to stay small. This page is the honest version of why it exists, who is poking at it, and where it might go next.

Why thisexists

As a kid I hunted for websites that felt odd, funny, or just a little wrong in the best way. Not the polished corporate ones. The handmade ones. The ones that made you grin at the screen and wonder who built that.

I always wanted one of my own. SpotMyMap is the first real step. A living map where brands, creators and communities can plant a visible mark on a country, pay what the spot is worth to them, and leave a trace that sticks around.

First on the web. Later, if the map keeps breathing, on the App Store and Google Play too. Same idea, pocket-sized.

Hi, I amKristo

I have been a web developer at a small company since 2022. A friend invited me in after I had complained, for a long time, that my old job and the 4 a.m. wake-ups were simply not me. I learned Elementor, took the risk, and left a steady paycheck behind.

Still one of the best decisions of my life. I have always been a computer person. Web work fits because I like curious homepages and design that feels alive. Since then I have learned something new almost every day - little tricks, better habits, tools that make the craft more fun.

The job is sitting down a lot, sure. But each day still has its own flavor. And besides the salary I somehow found a lovely partner at work too. Today we share a home with two soft chaos agents: rabbits named Bibi and Twixi.

My partner finished graphic design at the Estonian Academy of Arts in June 2026, cum laude. I am not about to sit that one out. I had been out of school for seven years - just working, learning on the job - and now I am finally going back, this time for applied informatics.

AI is barreling into this field, and that is fine. Someone still has to untangle the spaghetti. I would happily be that someone. Tinkering has always been my favorite sport. Even when the day job makes me sigh, I meet a good challenge with both arms open. We will see what the future brings.

When I am notshipping

I studied guitar for seven years. I am not a stage person. Alone with a guitar, hours vanish. I love that. YouTube is the other rabbit hole: tutorials, deep dives, random tabs. Quiet screen time. Still counts as learning.

  • Streams, films, long walks
  • Video games and more guitar
  • Cooking, when the kitchen cooperates
  • Occasional pilgrimages to a certain giant blue-and-yellow furniture hall. Mostly for the meatballs.

Lately I have also been quietly building tiny tools for my own craft: plugins and extensions that make ordinary developer life a bit easier. And odd little project-labs like this one. SpotMyMap is that kind of lab - playful on purpose, serious about the craft.

What isnext

Keep the map weird. Keep the placements honest. Your listing remains part of the map and its history, even when its current visual share is too small to show at every zoom. Grow from a web playground into something you can open on your phone without losing the joke. If you claimed a spot, thanks for being early. If you are just looking around - welcome. Stay curious.
